Bonner named ADT Defensive Player of the Week

Las Vegas, NV, April 12, 2005 – Las Vegas Gladiators' defensive specialist Cornelius Bonner was named the Arena Football League's ADT Defensive Player of the Week today for his efforts in leading the Gladiators to a 56-28 win over the Grand Rapids Rampage on Friday in Las Vegas.

A five-year veteran of the Arena Football League, Bonner (6'0" 190, Cincinnati) set an AFL record with his 55-yard interception return for a touchdown against the Rampage to go along with a team-high 9.5 tackles and two pass breakups.

On the season, Bonner has tallied 54 total tackles, two interceptions, seven pass breakups and one forced fumble.

This is the second time in Bonner's career he has been named the AFL's ADT Defensive Player of the Week. Last season, in Week 14 against the Soul, Bonner set a Gladiator record with three interceptions in a game and added three tackles, one pass breakup and one fumble recovery.

The Gladiators travel to Philadelphia to take on the Soul in Week 13 on Sunday, April 17. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. PT and will be aired on NBC with Bob Papa and Ray Bentley calling the game. It may also be heard on ESPN Radio 920 with Andrew Siciliano and Mike Pritchard calling the game.
