Bonifacio, Calixte Added to Kansas City Royals 40-Man Roster

SPRINGDALE, Ark. -- The Kansas City Royals set their 40-man roster Thursday night including the addition of two former 2013-'14 Northwest Arkansas Naturals. Right fielder Jorge Bonifacio, the seventh ranked prospect in the Royals organization according to MLB.com, and shortstop Orlando Calixte, ranked 12 in the organization, were each added to the roster.

In addition to Bonifacio and Calixte, the Royals also acquired outfielder Reymond Fuentes from the San Diego Padres and added him to the 40-man roster. Fuentes, a former first round pick by the Boston Red Sox in 2009, has played parts of three seasons in the Texas League as a member of the San Antonio Missions, the Double-A Affiliate of the Padres. Fuentes is the cousin of former Kansas City Royals star, and eight-time All-Star Carlos Beltran.

The Kansas City Royals 40-man roster currently sits at 38 players, leaving room for two potential acquisitions. Bonifacio and Calixte join 23 former Naturals, four former 2014 Naturals on the 40-man roster: Brandon Finnegan, Christian Colon (rehab assignment), Cheslor Cuthbert and Lane Adams.
