Bombers Win Exhibition vs USA Military All Stars
July 11, 2018 - Texas Collegiate League (TCL)
Brazos Valley Bombers News Release
Bryan/College Station, TX - This game will not go into the record books for the Bombers, but this could be the toughest opponent the Bombers face all season. The USA Military All Star team visited Travis Field for an exhibition against the five time defending TCL champions, with the Bombers winning 3-1.
The Military All Star team did get on the board first, scoring in the first inning to take the early 1-0 lead. The Bombers would take the lead in the bottom of the inning however, and would take a 2-1 lead. The Bombers would then add another run in the third inning to give them the 3-1 lead they would hold for the rest of the game.
The Bombers did have some fun with positioning during tonight's game, with normal Bombers shortstop, Christian Sepulveda, playing all 9 positions and earning the save in tonight's game. Christian wasn't the only player who played in an unconventional position as the Bombers had several position players take the mound, and Assistant Coach Jake Nash enter the game as a pinch hitter in the 8th inning. The game also featured Bradley Griggs coming into the game and pitching an immaculate inning, striking out all three batters he faced on nine pitches.
Tonight the Bombers wore special edition patriotic jerseys for the matchup which will be available to purchase via online auction starting tomorrow at 8AM on bvbombers.com. The Bombers begin a four game road trip starting tomorrow, where they will take on Acadiana and Victoria before returning to Travis Field to take on the Marshals.
