Brazos Valley Bombers News Release

Dallas, TX (July 27, 2014) - The Brazos Valley Bombers (34-12) defeated the Texas Marshals (16-31) on Sunday, 7-1, to win the weekend series.

A three run homer by designated hitter Grady Caldwell, his first of the season, put the Bombers on the board early in the first inning.

First baseman Logan Nottebrok followed Caldwell's lead and hit another home run out of the park in the third inning to bring in the Bombers' fourth run of the night.

Two back to back doubles by Caldwell and shortstop Kolbey Carpenter would bring in two more runs in the sixth inning. A base hit by catcher Robie Rojas later in the inning would allow Carpenter to cross the plate for the final run of the night.

Carpenter, Caldwell, and Nottebrok took the top spots on the batting stats for the Bombers. Carpenter and Caldwell each went two for four, with four RBI for Caldwell and one for Carpenter. Nottebrok went three for four with one RBI.

Tyler Nurdin, the winning pitcher for the night, started on the mound for the Bombers, putting in over five innings of work and striking out four batters. Garrett Harris, Cannon Chadwick, and Jacob Lawrence, the newest addition to the Bombers roster, all stepped out of the bullpen.

The Bombers, still holding on to first place in the league, will return home to Cellucor Field on Tuesday to face the second place Victoria Generals at 7:05 p.m. for the first game in a two game series.
