Brazos Valley Bombers News Release
Bryan-College Station, TX - Fresh off clinching their eighth consecutive half-season championship, the Bombers continued their winning ways on Saturday night with a walk-off win in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the Woodlands Strykers by a score of 3-2. Tonight's victory was the fifth win in a row for the 2015 TCL First-Half Champions.
The Bombers were once again locked in a pitcher's duel at 0-0 until the Strykers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the sixth inning. The Bombers responded with two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to tie the game and set the stage for an exciting finish. After walking with one out in the inning, Louis Boyd stole second base as the throw from the catcher sailed into centerfield. This error allowed Boyd to reach third as the centerfielder bobbled the ball trying to scoop it up off of the ground. The bobble then allowed Boyd enough time to dive in safely to home plate to beat the throw, score the winning run, and send the electrifying home crowd into a frenzy.
After the exciting finish, BTU lit up the night sky with the fourth fireworks extravaganza of the season on Superhero Night at the Cellucor Field. The players wore superhero-themed jerseys, presented by TEEX, that were auctioned off during the game. In addition to the heroic superhero festivities, children ages 13 and under received free admission into the ballpark as part of Kids Free Saturday, thanks to Chicken Express.
The Bombers will look to win their sixth game in a row tomorrow night on Pets in the Park Night with Baseball Bingo, presented by Brazos Bingo. Seniors will have free admission into the ballpark and first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
