Bombers Set to Take on Texarkana Twins Tuesday at Travis Field

Bryan/College Station, Texas- The Bombers come into the winner take all championship looking for their sixth title in seven years. Brazos Valley would seem to come into the game more rested playing two games compared to Texarkana's three, but with the Bombers game going into extra innings last night it could be anyone's game. 1st pitch at Travis Field is set for 7:05 P.M.

The Bombers came into the playoffs as the number one seed after posting a 34-16 record in the regular season just ahead of the Victoria Generals. As the top two seeds both teams went on the road for game one of a three game series.

The Bombers faced the Acadiana Cane Cutters on the road Saturday the 10th in a pitching duel that saw Dontae Woodard getting the start on the mound pitching 5 dominant innings giving up a lone hit. Hunter Dobbins closed out the game in relief pitching 3.1 hitless innings. The Bombers used small ball to score their two runs with Jordan Yeatts dropping down a squeeze bunt and Bryant Shellenbarger hitting a sac fly to score the games only two runs. The teams returned to action the following night, but at Travis Field this time as the teams combined for 8 runs in the first three innings. After that both teams bullpens came into the game and dominated not allowing a run for 9 innings before the Bombers walked it off on an errant throw on an attempted double play ball that allowed Shellenbarger to score all the way from second.

The Twins had to battle in a three game series with the Generals to make it to championship Tuesday. The Twins won game one in a pitcher's duel in a comeback effort as the Generals took an early 1-0 lead. The Twins would eventually walk things off in the bottom of the 9th inning Christain Boulware singled to left scoring Reece Durand. The Generals turned things around in game two in Victoria defeating the twins by a score of 9-1. Game three saw the Twins grab an early lead before the Generals mounted a comeback effort of their own. Victoria plated a run in the eighth and had the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th when Payton Robinson flew out to left to end the game and clinch their spot in the championship game.

The championship game is set for 7:05 Tuesday night at Travis Field. Thanks to Baylor Scott and White and College Station Ford tickets to the game are free for everyone! We hope to see you out at the field as the Twins and Bombers battle for TCL supremacy.
