
Bombers Receive Impact Players

Dayton, OH- Dayton Bombers Head Coach and General Manager Don MacAdam announced today that the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League have assigned goaltender Adam Berkhoel to Dayton. The Columbus Blue Jackets have also assigned forward Brent Walton to the Bombers as well.
Berkhoel, a 25-year-old native of St. Paul, Minnesota, was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the eighth round of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. He spent time with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL, the Gwinnett Gladiators of the EHCL and the Atlanta Thrashers of the NHL last season. Berkhoel appeared in 11 games for the Wolves, with a record of 3-6-0, a goals against average of 3.65 and a save percentage of .882. With Gwinnett he appeared in 15 games, posting a record of 10-4-1, a goals against average of 2.73 and a save percentage of .909. Due to a numerous amount of injuries at the goaltending position, Berkhoel was called on for nine games by the Thrashers, posting a record of 2-4-1, a goals against average of 3.80 and a save percentage of .882.
Prior to his professional debut in 2004-05, Berkhoel backstopped the University of Denver to the 2004 National Championship by posting a 1-0 shutout of Maine in the Championship game. He appeared in almost 100 games throughout his collegiate career and posted 55 victories.
Walton, a 5'9", 180-pound native of Elmira, Ontario, appeared in one game for the Syracuse Crunch prior to his assignment to Dayton this season, and spent six games with the Crunch at the end of last season, after completing his collegiate career at Western Michigan University. Walton had an above average career at Western Michigan, appearing in 154 games and scoring 155 points on 71 goals and 84 assists. He also won the Rob Hodge MVP Award two consecutive seasons and placed in the top 10 in eight different statistical categories in the CCHA his senior year at Western Michigan.
