Brazos Valley Bombers News Release

Bryan-College Station, TX - Rebounding from Thursday night's loss in extra innings, the Brazos Valley Bombers (18-6) defeated the East Texas PumpJacks (8-16) 9-4 Friday night.

"We had momentum, had the lead, but we lost it," said Curtis Dixon, Bombers head coach. "[It was a] good job by Andre Shewcraft coming out of the bullpen, holding the game at 3-2 so we could come back offensively."

The Bombers took a 2-0 lead early, scoring a run apiece in the first and third innings. The PumpJacks would then respond by scoring a run in the fourth and a pair in the fifth, taking a 3-2 lead.

Right hander Andre Shewcraft came in during the fifth to relieve starting pitcher Mike Walker, keeping the Bombers in the game by holding the PumpJacks to just one hit in 2 2/3 innings of work.

The Bombers retook the lead in the eighth inning by scoring three runs, two of which came on a double by designated hitter Ford Moore.

In the top of the ninth, the Bombers would add four insurance runs after a bases loaded double by first baseman G.R. Hinsley brought in catcher Tucker Pennell and second baseman Jimmy Norris to break the scoring wide open. Third baseman Logan Nottebrok's second sacrifice fly of the night would bring in left fielder Hunter Haley for the Bombers' third run of the inning, and Hinsley would score after a grounder by right fielder Dane Steinhagen proved too much for the PumpJacks' second baseman.

"We just kept the lineup rolling, one through nine- it was neat to see," Dixon said. "Our guys our really putting good swings on it, and I look forward to that carrying over to the end of the week."

The PumpJacks would only muster one run in the bottom of the ninth, as the Bombers went on to avenge Thursday night's loss.

The Bombers will return home to Cellucor Field Saturday to face East Texas at 7:05 p.m. for the first of a two game series. Saturday's game will feature the Bombers' final fireworks show of the season presented by College Station Hilton.
