Bombers Outslug Generals 9-5 in Series Opener

Brazos Valley Bombers News Release
Bryan/College Station, TX - After last night, where the Bombers had a hard time getting anything going, the team was able to explode for five runs in the second inning, in which they batted around the lineup and had the bases loaded multiple times. The Bombers continued to have success at the plate during the game, scoring a season high 9 runs. The fans enjoyed what was a pleasant night at the ballpark, where the Bombers honored local super heroes of the Brazos Valley, the community's first responders.
Last night, the Bombers had issues stringing together hits against the Twins, the opposite was true in the second inning of tonight's game. The club sent the eleven Bombers to the plate in the second inning and put the immediate pressure back on Victoria after giving up a first inning run. The Generals closed the gap with two runs scored in the 3rd inning on RBIs by Thomas Jeffries and Luis Olivier. The Bombers then added insurance in the 7th inning when Kyle Bergeron hit a big 2 run single to put the game out of reach. The Generals would hit a two run home run off the bat of Trent Brown to left field, but it would not be enough to get them back into the game. The Bombers would cap off the scoring in the 9th when he hit a RBI single up the middle.
Bombers Manager Brian Nelson gave his thoughts on tonight's game: "Solid all-around team win tonight. We had quality at bats throughout the line-up all night and our bullpen came up with some big clutch outs at crucial times. We are still learning a lot about our guys, but I can't be prouder of the way they have all shown up and competed."
The Bombers return to action tomorrow night for the finale of a two games series against the Victoria Generals for a Fireworks Spectacular on Friday night. The Bombers then head on the road to take on the Acadiana Cane Cutters over the weekend.
