
Bombers Open Second Half with 6-1 Win over Victoria

Bryan-College Station, TX - The Brazos Valley Bombers (23-6) opened the second half of the 2014 season with a 6-1 victory over the Victoria Generals (22-9) Thursday night.
The Bombers struck first in the second inning, plating two runs to take an early lead. A single from center fielder Matt Hilston in the top of the fourth would score left fielder Ford Moore to extend the Bombers' lead to 3-0.
Bombers starter Garrett Harris would surrender a run in the bottom of the fourth, but would otherwise deliver a strong six inning performance giving up just two hits.
The Bombers would add two more runs in the fifth behind a pair of doubles from third baseman Logan Nottebrok and second baseman Hunter Hagler, extending their lead to 5-1.
Reliever Nick Johnson would give up one hit in two innings of work, and closer Cannon Chadwick would strike out the side in the ninth as the Bombers would go on to win by a five run margin.
The Bombers will look to complete the sweep of their two-game series against the Generals Friday night at Riverside Stadium at 7:35 p.m.- the team's last series before the All-Star break.
