Bombers Give Away $1000 Scholarship, Drop First Loss of the Season to Cane Cutters

Bryan-College Station, TX (June 4, 2014) - The Brazos Valley Bombers hosted "High School Appreciation Night" Wednesday night at Cellucor Field, where they gave away a $1000 "Full-Count Scholarship" courtesy of Awards & More.

The scholarship is presented by the Bombers to the most well rounded high school athlete in the Bryan-College Station area, and candidates must demonstrate academic excellence, athletic prowess, while also demonstrating good citizenship in the community. Though almost 100 juniors and seniors from local high schools applied, Ashley Miller of Rudder High School was chosen as the winner, a soccer and volleyball player who holds a 4.3 GPA.

The Bombers also welcomed their first Kid CEO of the season to the Bombers staff courtesy of Mathnasium and FedStar Credit Union. The Bombers were lead by Trace of Rock Prairie Elementary school in all aspects of the Bombers' game day operations. Trace enjoyed time running the ticket office, operating the scoreboard in the press box, and even participated in the ceremonial first pitch.

The Bombers came up short in the game, dropping their first loss of the season to the Cane Cutters 8-1. The Bombers will look to bounce back with a win on Thirsty Thursday- with dollar beer and sodas thanks to Western Beverges- against the second place Victoria Generals at 7:05 p.m. at Cellucor Field.
