
Bombers Gear up for Playoff Run with Second Shutout in Three Games

Lafayette, LA (August 4, 2015) - Coming off a two-game series split with the East Texas Pump Jacks, the Brazos Valley Bombers looked to rebound with a win on Tuesday night in Louisiana against the Acadiana Cane Cutters.
The Bombers jumped on the Cane Cutters early with four first-inning runs and never looked back from there. They added one run in the 3rd, another run in the 5th, and three more in the 6th all while benefitting from another masterful performance by the Bombers' pitching staff to defeat the Cane Cutters by a score of 9-0.
TCL All-Star Trent Goodrich led the charge offensively all night long, going 4-for-5 with 2 doubles, a run scored, and 3 RBI. Callaway Kirkpatrick started on the bump for the Bombers, going 4 innings without allowing a run. Kirkpatrick's Marshall Thundering Herd teammate Heston Van Fleet, Blaine Suehs, Blaze Hastings, and Nick Jones combined for five innings of shutout baseball in relief, while striking out a combined five Cane Cutters, and only allowing three hits.
Following Tuesday night's victory, the Bombers' record now stands at 39-9 overall and 20-5 in the second half. In their pursuit of a second national championship, the Bombers are currently ranked 8th in the nation in the Collegiate Summer Baseball Rankings
The Bombers will look to complete the sweep of the Cane Cutters on Wednesday night before returning home next Thursday, August 6 for Spirit Night, presented by Rattler's; and Thirsty Thursday, when beer, soft drinks,and margaritas are one dollar all night long, thanks to Western Beverages. The Bombers' opponent during the August 6 and 7 homestand will be the East Texas Pump Jacks.
