Another member of the Cane Cutters has won the player of the week award in the Texas Collegiate League. This time it was a local member of the team in Chance Vincent out of Acadiana high school.
Chance had a prolific high school career at Acadiana. He was a three year letter winner as well as a three team all district selection in which he earned first-team honors in 2011 through 2012. He hit .309 with 68 RBIs and 18 doubles in his Acadiana career.
He then went on to the University of Alabama and has been a consistent producer in his first three years with the Tide. In his most productive season, sophomore year, he hit .254 in 53 starts with 24 RBIs and a home run.
He has experience in the Texas Collegiate League as he has played for the Acadiana Cane Cutters for the past two summers before this. In 2013 he hit .289 with 54 hits, 30 runs scored, 1 home run, and 9 doubles. The following summer he hit .277, 44 hits, 24 RBIs, and 4 home runs. He is currently hitting .376 in 21 games with 32 hits, 15 runs scored, 6 doubles, and 18 RBIs.
This upcoming week is the last home series of the season at Fabacher Field; starting Tuesday, August 4th, against the Brazos Valley Bombers. August 6th will be Superhero night as the Cane Cutters will celebrate the first responders here in Lafayette. First responders and their families will get in free and there will be a $500 gift card giveaway. $1 off tickets for any fan that dresses as a superhero.
On Friday, August 7th, the regular season concludes with Fan Appreciation Night and the C&G Boats Shirt off the Back promotion! The camo jerseys worn by the players each Friday night will be available to fans, some in silent auction, and some in a drawing, immediately after the game as the players pull them off. It's a great photo opportunity! Come out and help us end the summer league season with some momentum before the playoffs.
On Saturday, August 8th, the Acadiana Cane Cutters will host their first ever home playoff game at 7:00. Our goal is to PACK THE PARK, and so we are encouraging all of our fans to come and support the team! We play the Victoria Generals in a single elimination round, and if we win, we will move on to the championship series.
