
Bombers fall to Woodchucks

Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release
Wausau, Wisc - The Battle Creek Bombers (0-3), fell on a walk-off homer in the 9 th inning to the Wisconsin Woodchucks (3-0) by a final of 3-2 on Friday night.
The Woodchucks got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the 3 rd . Tyler Stieb scored on a single by John Clay Reeves . The Bombers answered back with a run of their own in the top of the 6 th . Matthew Fears came home on a Drew Carlile single. Hunter Devall made his longest start of the year going six innings striking out five. Matt Ditman started for Wisconsin giving them six innings and seven strikeouts while surrendering just one run.
Wisconsin would take the lead right back in the home half of the 7 th inning on a Rob Bennie home run to left field. With two outs in the 8 th inning, the Bombers needed a spark and they got it from Greg Velazquez . Velazquez lifted a fly ball over the center field fence for his first home run of the year off Pascal Paul (W 2-0). The game went into the bottom of the 9 th inning tied at two. Bennie lead off the inning against Kenton San Miguel (L 3-1) and hit a walk-off home run over the right field wall giving Wisconsin a 3-2 victory.
Battle Creek will now go to LaCrosse for a pair of games against the Loggers.
