Rox Defeat the Huskies 11-5 Splitting the Series

Duluth, Minn. - The St. Cloud Rox and the Duluth Huskies were back in action Friday night for their final game of the series. The Rox defeated the Huskies to split their series by a final score of 11-5.

St. Cloud would not waste time taking a 1-0 lead over the Huskies in the top of the first inning. Chris Paul was the lead off batter for the Rox as he earned a walk and then advanced to second off a sacrifice hit by Tim Colwell. Adam Martin was hit by a pitch taking first and a single by Luke Weber would score Paul and Martin was put out at home for out number one. The Rox ended the inning with their solo run on two hits.

The Huskies tied the game up 1-1 in the bottom of the second off an error by the Rox second baseman.

In the top of the third it was Colwell getting the bats going with a single to center field. The Rox would continue to swing the bats as Weber hit a RBI double taking a 2-1 lead. Later in the inning with no outs, Vincent Jackson posted a double to left field taking the Rox to a 7-1 lead over the Huskies. St. Cloud would make it an 8-1 game by the end of the inning.

St. Cloud would post another run in the top of the fourth to extend their lead 9-1. Duluth would also score a run in the bottom of the fourth to trail the Rox 9-2.

Both teams would score again in the seventh inning for a 10-3 game but the Huskies posted another two runs in the bottom of the eighth to trail 10-5.

The Rox would seal an 11-5 victory over the Huskies splitting their two game series in Duluth.

On the mound for the Rox was Lucas Long earning the start and recording his first win of the season in 7.0 innings of work. Also seeing action on the mound was Jason Condit and Jordan Talbot each for one inning of work.

The St. Cloud Rox (1-1 North) will be back in action Saturday night for as they travel to Mankato, Minnesota for a two game series against the MoonDogs. The first pitch is set for 6:05 p.m.
