
Bombers Drop Second Game against Generals

Brazos Valley Bombers News Release
Victoria, TX - The Bombers could not bounce back from a 7-1 in a battle between the two top teams in the TCL resulting in a 7-4 loss. This brings the Brazos Valley Bombers to a 16-10 record, giving the Generals a one game lead over the Bombers with the first half wrapping up soon.
The Bombers did not start off strong, falling behind 3-0 after the first four innings. The team put one run on the scoreboard from Casey Danley's double that allowed Dylan Gardner to touch home plate. The Bombers fell silent until the 8th inning where they rallied putting three runs on the board. In the 8th, Christian Sepulveda slugged out a triple that allowed Danley to score again giving the Bombers two on the board. Later in the inning, Ryan Newman hit a two-run homer bringing the Bombers run count to 4. The Generals bats were hot throughout the game scoring 2 runs in the 1st, one run in the 2nd, 5th, and 6th, and lastly two more runs in the 7th which gave us our final score of 7-4.
Dylan Lester was the starting pitcher for the Brazos Valley Bombers pitching for three innings giving up 6 hits, 3 runs, and 2 walks. Lester had 3 strikeouts for the night. Relief pitcher Brady Batten pitched for two innings giving up 2 hits, 2 runs, and 1 walk. Batten had 2 strikeouts on the night. Cody LeCompte and Zach Iverson pitched an inning a piece as well. LeCompte gave up 2 hits, 2 runs, and 1 walk. He had 2 strikeouts for the night. Iverson came in and pitched a scoreless inning, not giving up any hits or runs.
The Bombers continue their road trip to Texarkana to face the Twins Thursday and Friday night. After that the Bombers head back home for a two-game series against the Texas Marshals where the Bombers will celebrate Independence Day early with a fireworks show.
