Brazos Valley Bombers News Release
Plano, TX (June 10, 2015) - The Brazos Valley Bombers continued their hot start to the 2015 season, sweeping a doubleheader with the Texas Marshals by scores of 3-1 and 9-1.
In the first game, the Marshals took the lead in the fourth inning, but the Bombers storm back in the top of the 6th to tie the game and then take a 3-1 lead on catcher Henri Lartigue's first home run of the season. Pitcher Ethan Landon started the game for the Bombers, pitching five and one-third innings and allowing one unearned run, improving his record to 2-0 this season.
In the nightcap, the Bombers did not need any late-inning magic to complete the sweep, winning by a score of 9-1. The boys in Navy Blue and Vegas Gold jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, scoring in each of the first three innings. Designated hitter Zach Files and centerfielder Tyler Bates both drew three walks each, exemplifying the great plate discipline the Bombers showed throughout the night as the team drew 15 walks total.
Pitcher C.J. Gregory made his first start of the season and improved his record to 3-0. Second baseman Jimmy Norris added to his league-leading stolen base totals, he now has 8 stolen bases on the season.
The Bombers return to Cellucor Field on June 11, starting a four-game homestand. June 11 will be Thirsty Thursday, with dollar drinks presented by Western Beverages; and Alpacalypse Takeover Night, featuring live alpacas at the ballpark. First pitch is at 7:05 pm.
