
Bombers celebrate Bucky's birthday with 5-4 win over Storm

Olivier Proulx, Jason Deskins, and Sean Connolly each recorded a goal and an assist, while Riley Cote (pictured) scored the decisive goal in the shootout as the Dayton Bombers notched their second straight victory, a 5-4 win over the Toledo Storm at a Nutter Center theme event celebrating the first public birthday of Bucky, the Flying Squirrel.
Deskins scored his team-leading fifth short-handed goal at 9:29 of the second period, then assisted on Sean Connolly's power play goal that helped the Bombers tie the game (4-4) at 6:45 of the third period. Deskins now has a point in seven straight games.
Olivier Proulx gave the Bombers a 1-0 lead with a power-play score at 9:06 of the first period, then set up Deskins' man-down conversion.
Chad Theuer also tallied for the Bombers, who outshot the Storm 39-23. The Bombers, who arrived in Dayton shortly past 9 a.m. in preparation for their 4 p.m. tilt against Toledo, outscored the Storm 3-2 in the shootout session. Riley Cote's sixth round score secured the win.
Marco Charpentier and Kris Waltze tallied twice each for Toledo.
The Bombers continue a seven-game home stand Friday night vs. Trenton at the Nutter Center (7:00 p.m.). Indy Racing League (IRL) Driver sensation Sarah Fisher will be at the game. The Bombers will be encouraging women of all ages to achieve their dreams as part of Parent-Daughter Night.
