Dayton, OH â The Dayton Bombers snapped a 6-game winless skid (0-5-1) with a 2-1 win over the Peoria Rivermen in front of 2,164 at the Nutter Center Sunday afternoon.
After a scoreless first period, the Bombers opened a 1-0 lead when BEN KNOPP beat Alfie Michaud with an off-speed shot from the slot at 6:19. AARON FOSTER made it 2-0 with a powerplay goal at 17:47 of period two. The only Peoria goal of the game was scored by Tyler Rennette with 39.9 seconds remaining in the middle frame.
The Bombers dressed just 9 forwards, 5 defensemen and 2 goaltenders because of suspensions to Steve Dix (1 game), Alex Johnstone (1 game) and Matt Herneisen (3 games). Dayton is now 3-3-0 in 6 meetings with the Rivermen this season. These teams will meet three more times in the regular season.
The Bombers next game is scheduled for Tuesday night, December 28th as they travel to Trenton, New Jersey to face the Titans. Audio coverage at daytonbombers.com begins at 7:00 PM.
