Brazos Valley Bombers News Release

Bryan/College Station, Texas - The Brazos Valley Bombers are excited to announce the return of four players from last year's championship roster. Connor Mang, Jared Mang, CJ Varela, and Christian Vick all return to help continue last year's success. These players will help form a nucleus of talent that wants to see a Texas Collegiate League championship return to Bryan/College Station in the 2018 season.

Jared Mang returns to the Bombers as the reigning TCL MVP. The New Mexico outfielder led last year's team with a .349 batting average and 26 RBIs and ranked 2nd in homeruns with 3. His brother, third baseman Connor, also returns to the team after having to miss most of last year's Bombers season due to injury. Connor has had a strong season this year for the Lobos, ranking as one of the team leaders in batting average, hitting .301 on the season.

The Bombers pitching staff will also have two familiar faces with both CJ Varela and Christian Vick returning to the team for a second season. Varela, a Katy, TX native, started 7 games for the Champion Bombers, compiling a 2-2 record with a 3.55 ERA and 23 strikeouts in his 38 innings of work. The Oklahoma State product has pitched well for the Cowboys this season, compiling a 3-0 record in 10 appearances, while having a 2.87 ERA and 19 strikeouts. Christian Vick will return to the Bombers on the heels of a strong campaign for Southeast Missouri, where he ranks second on the team in ERA and strikeouts and limiting hitters to only .255 BAA.
