Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release
Battle Creek, Mich. - The Bombers have signed two from The Ohio State University. Tanner Tully and Jacob Bosiokovic of the Buckeyes will be joining the Bombers during the 2014 season.
Tanner Tully, 2013 Mr. Baseball of Indiana recipient, is a southpaw that dominated from the mound at Elkhart Central High School. Tully finished with a 10-1 record posting a 0.30 ERA striking out 120 batters in 70 innings of work. The Bristol, Indiana native, was not only a dominating threat from the mound, but was also an offensive juggernaut. He had a batting average of .495 with 10 homeruns, 30 RBIs, and 47 runs scored.
Tully's success has continued at the collegiate level as a freshman at Ohio State. Through 21 innings of play he has only given up 3 earned runs giving him an ERA of 1.29, fanning 12 batters and only giving up 2 walks.
Bombers Head Coach Dan Trivett is excited about the addition, stating "Tanner is one of those special players. Anytime you are named the best baseball player in your state you are in elite company. Tanner will have a key role on our pitching staff this summer."
Jacob Bosiokovic, an Ohio State sophomore, is coming off an impressive freshman season in 2013. He played in 53 games, hitting .273 with 4 homeruns, 33 RBIs, and 28 runs scored. In 2012, Jacob was a finalist for Gatorade Player of the Year in Ohio as a junior at Rutherford B. Hays High School. He was selected as a 2014 Big Ten Preseason 2nd Team All-Conference.
Coach Trivett likes his potential in this league, adding "With Jacob's resume and talent all of the pieces are in place for him to post a stellar Northwoods League campaign." He adds about the duo, "We as an organization feel blessed to have two of the finest young baseball talents in this country to be a part of our Battle Creek family this summer."
Jacob Bosiokovic, Tanner Tully, and the rest of the Bombers will start their 2014 campaign in Battle Creek on May 29th at 7:05pm against the newly formed Kalamazoo Growlers.
