Greenville Drive News Release

1. COUNTDOWN TO FAMILY FUN!

As many of you know, the Bomberball home opener will be Monday, April 12th. What may not yet have sunken in for you is that it is now less than three months away! While the final touches on the promotional slate are not quite done (and of course remain subject to change), we can now tell you about some of the exciting events on the calendar. Look for six FIREWORKS nights this season (April 17, May 30, July 3, July 4, July 30, & Sept. 5, all at 7:05pm). We know the hysterical Zooperstars will return (July 18) and that the Veggie Tales will be back (July 11). Elvis Night (May 28) will feature "Little E" making his Columbia debut. The giveaway slate will likely include mini-bats, mouse pads, puzzles, helmets, baseballs, notebooks, and hats. The Bombers will mark Memorial Day and Labor Day with daytime games (each at 1pm). Six Wednesday games will also feature baseball in the afternoon sun. Saturn of Columbia and WMHK have helped bring back our Christian Concert Game (July 31, 3pm), this year starring Point of Grace! All this plus our traditional scout nights, "Carnival Saturdays," and other guest appearances and giveaways yet to be announced. Whew!

2. TIME FOR A CHANGE...

Get ready for a new look on the team website! Our site, www.bomberball.com, had a fresh look a couple of seasons ago, but time has passed and it's due for a makeover. The change will not just be a cosmetic one, though—look for better navigation and improved information, in addition to the fantastic graphic overhaul. When everything is complete, we will join the Stream Technologies roster of Minor League team sites (including Chattanooga, West Tenn, Huntsville, Fort Wayne, and Nashville, all with sites recently completed or currently in development). No exact launch date is set yet, but we are excited to have the new Bomberball.com on the way!

3. SO...WHAT HAVE WE BEEN UP TO?

People always ask what the Bombers staff does in the off-season. Well, in addition to planning the event schedule you just read about, assisting with the re-fit of the website, and selling stadium advertising inventory, the Bomberball Family has had plenty of reasons to stay busy. In just the last week, you may have seen staff members like Pete meeting and greeting fans at "A Grand Affair," staged at the Fairgrounds by Palmetto Health. The Pepsi Pavilion has played host to a number of parties and business meetings, most recently welcoming church leaders from around the Midlands—allowing Brian to discuss the church group functions available this season, including the fabulous Point of Grace show. Maybe your kids have seen Mark at their school career fairs or perhaps you've seen Henry at your civic group meetings to talk about Bomberball. Rich and Tim represented the team at the Baseball Winter Meetings in New Orleans. Of course, Bomber the Mouse has a habit of showing up in all sorts of places as well. Captain Hook has been keeping the field preparations on schedule, cold or no cold. And as for Bruno and Sophie...well, they've been pretty relaxed.

4. A LITTLE HELP HERE, PLEASE...

Arcadia Publishing has approached the Capital City Bombers for help putting together a history of professional baseball in Columbia. Mark Bryant will be coordinating the effort, but the Bomberball archives only go so far—so here's where you come in...pictures, pictures, pictures! For images, we have a lot from the Mets/Bombers era, some from the Reds/Gems period, and very little from the Comers/early baseball times, so anything you may have that might help our look back in time would be appreciated. Just contact Mark in the team office (803-256-4110 or mark@bomberball.com).

5. STEP RIGHT UP!

Advertisers looking for special opportunities to reach families in the Midlands need to cast an eye toward Capital City Stadium. The Bombers still have openings on the outfield wall (going fast), in the program, and for events in the promotional calendar. Two quick selling points for you: 1-the program will change formats this year, going to a smaller book, but we will print four different editions and GIVE THEM AWAY, wildly increasing the circulation and advertiser value for the same ad costs; 2-the pocket schedules will go to press soon and we still have a special opening—a two-sided end panel, perfect for a tear-off coupon (just right for the clever sponsor who wants to put 200,000 coupons in town all summer long). Just call the Bombers office—any staff member can help with advertising needs. Specific questions about the pocket schedules can be addressed to Mark Bryant.

6. SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT: SATURN OF COLUMBIA

So many great partners have joined Bomberball for 2004! Among the new additions to our fine list of sponsors are Centex Homes, Delta Dental, Simplex-Grinell, and the Utilities Employees Credit Union. In this edition of Bombshells, we turn our eyes to Saturn of Columbia. For years, Saturn has told you about "A different kind of company. A different kind of car." Now you can add "a different level of service," as Saturn of Columbia has opened a breathtaking expansion of its service facilities. Saturn has been a valuable member of the Bombers Family for a long time, and the number of Saturn cars and Saturn Pre-Owned vehicles that have parked in employee spots is a great testament to the pride in this partnership. Not only will you find Saturn of Columbia on the outfield wall, you will also see Saturn as the sponsor for our Point of Grace concert on July 31st. To learn more about the Ion, the Vue, or anything else Saturn has to offer, call 803-732-6500 or visit www.saturnofcolumbia.com.

7. NOTABLE QUOTABLE...

"The one constant through all the years has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, is part of our past. It reminds us of all that was once good, and what could be again." --James Earl Jones (as Terence Mann) in Field of Dreams

8. BOMBSHELLS INFO FOR YOU

Yes, it's been a while since the last issue. I wanted to wait until I could give you some more promotional details...I also wanted to wait until I could tell you about the coaching staff for this season, but we still don't have any information for you there, sorry about that (believe me, we want to know, too)! Hope the holidays went well for everyone out there—and Happy New Year from the Capital City Bombers! One very personal and sad note from the Bombers staff before we go...we want to say farewell to Eddie Prescott, one of the best fans we ever had. Eddie passed away in late December and will be sorely missed, especially when Opening Night rolls around and we are robbed of his smile. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wonderful wife Dot and all the Prescott family. Don't let us go out on too sad a note, folks—I'm sure Eddie would have taken great delight in reminding all of us just how close we are to baseball season, and just how exciting that can be.
