WINNIPEG, MB - The Board of Directors today announced the appointment of Brock Bulbuck, President & CEO of the Boyd Group Income Fund, to a three year term as the Chair of the Winnipeg Football Club (WFC).

Bulbuck, who takes over from outgoing Chair Bill Watchorn, first joined the Board in 2002. During this time, he served as Treasurer and Vice Chair as well as in a number of capacities with the CFL Board of Governors.

"Before I discuss what I see in store for our Club," said Bulbuck, "I want to acknowledge and thank Bill Watchorn for his immense contributions to the planning, development and construction of Investors Group Field. He has been a tireless champion of this massive project and of the WFC."

Under his leadership, Bulbuck said fans and the community can expect to see a renewed commitment by the Board to:

. Strategic governance and oversight;

. Board renewal and regeneration;

. Openness and transparency.

"The immense task of building a new stadium necessitated the Board having to be involved in many activities that were beyond strategic governance and oversight," he said. "With the stadium nearly complete, our Board will return to its intended purpose."

To evidence these commitments, Bulbuck announced a change in by-laws to add a 13th Director to the Bomber Board. Importantly, he also announced that a public nomination process will be launched to fill this and all future new Director positions. As part of this process, the nomination criteria will be published, including online, which will be based both on skill set and experience.

"While the Board has always filled new positions with qualified, skilled, and experienced individuals," he said, "this public process will ensure that all future qualified candidates are identified using openness and transparency."

As part of the renewal and regeneration process, Bulbuck also announced the introduction of established retirement dates for existing Directors which means one to three Directors per year will be rotated out over the next six to seven years. "This process will completely renew the Board within this time period, while ensuring we have the necessary Board blend of continuity, experience, historical perspectives and fresh faces with fresh ideas."

In looking forward, the new Chair said he believes the future is very, very bright for the Winnipeg Football Club given the fact that it is on solid financial ground, has a new state-of-the-art stadium, a hard working management team and the best fans and sponsors in the CFL.

"With that said, there is still much to be done, kinks to work out in our new home and a Grey Cup to win sometime soon in our future," said Bulbuck. "We know we will continue to encounter challenges and, yes, even make a few mistakes. My commitment is to face whatever is ahead of us in a timely fashion and with openness, honesty and integrity."
