Rockford Lightning News Release

Rockford, IL- With a month and a half remaining in the 2004-05 CBA regular season, the Lightning's playoff push begins now. Before the Bolts get to a February that involves seven home games, they square off against the defending CBA Champion Dakota Wizards for a back-to-back set.

The Wizards currently sit atop the CBA's Western Conference, and have maintained the highest quarter point average in the league at 4.2. This is despite losing three of their last four games, including against the two worst teams in the CBA, Yakima and Michigan. Dakota has no one in the top 15 in scoring average in the CBA, however, as a team they are tops in the CBA in points per game (111.3) and field goal percentage (49.5%). Rockford trails Dakota in the points per game category, averaging 110.4, but also give up the most points with an average of 112.6 per game. The Lightning have only won three games on the road this year, but one of those wins was against Yakima this past Friday night. Tip off time for the games on Friday and Saturday night are at 7:05 p.m. at the Bismarck Civic Center in Bismarck, ND.

Rockford returns home for an important two game Eastern Conference home stand, as they face Great Lakes on Monday, January 31 and Gary on Tuesday, February 1. The Bolts currently trail Great Lakes in the Eastern Conference standings, as the Storm have rattled off seven straight victories. The last of those victories was a 135-130 overtime thriller against the Lightning at the MetroCentre on January 25, so Rockford is looking for a bit of revenge. Gary is three games below .500 at 11-14, but has given the Lightning plenty of battles this season. In their last matchup on January 12 at the Genesis Center, the Steelheads edged Rockford 105-104. Tip-off for both games is at 7:05 p.m, with all kids tickets half-price. To order your tickets, call the MetroCentre box office at 815-968-5222.
