Bolts capture fourth straight victory

Rockford, IL- After coming from 20 points down on Monday night to beat the Great Lakes Storm, the Rockford Lightning needed three overtimes against the Gary Steelheads on Tuesday night. Rockford outscored Gary 14-8 in the third extra session to earn the 141-135 victory. By capturing their fourth straight win, the Lightning have set a new longest win streak of the season.

All five starters, and the sixth man, Marshall Phillips, scored in double digits in the win. Jermaine Walker led Rockford, shooting 10-of-24 from the floor and finishing the night with 30 points. That is the second straight home game in which Jermaine Walker has scored 30 points. Brant Bailey also chipped in 29 points, which included shooting 17-of-20 from the free throw line. Livan Pyfrom led the Bolts under the basket, with nine rebounds and three blocks for the night. Cordell Henry tallied up seven assists, while Marshall Phillips finished with 22 points, Brian Lubeck had 20 points, Ronnie Fields ended up with 17 points, and Stais Boseman tallied 12 points to finish the double-digit scorers for Rockford. Leading all scorers in the game was Gary's Jimmie Hunter, who went 20-of-34 from the floor and a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe to ring up 48 points in the Steelhead loss. Rockford picked up 5.5 more quarter points to climb a little closer to Great Lakes in the Ea! stern Conference standings.

Rockford goes to Great Lakes for their next contest on Monday, February 7 for a rare 10:05 a.m. start. After that, on Tuesday, February 8, the Lightning face the Michigan Mayhem in Muskegon for the first time since December 28. Then, the Lightning return home to the MetroCentre on Thursday, December 10 as they host the Western Conference leading Dakota Wizards for a 7:05 p.m. game.
