Rockford Lightning News Release

Rockford, IL- The Lightning roster is back up to ten players, as they have signed former Gary Steelhead and Fightning Illini player Jarrod Gee on Tuesday afternoon. Gee played 15 games with the Steelheads this season, and was waived by Gary on January 21.

While with the Steelheads in 2004-05, Gee averaged 4.7 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. He also had a brief stint with Gary in 2003-04, where in 12 games he averaged 13.4 points and seven rebounds per contest. Gee briefly played for Rockford in the 2001-02 season, averaging 6.2 points per game in 14 games with the Bolts. Gee fills the roster spot vacated when Keith Closs was released for disciplinary reasons this past Monday afternoon.

"Jarrod is a seasoned CBA veteran, and no stranger to Lightning fans. It was important for us to bring in another big body for our upcoming road trip, and Jarrod fit the bill," says Lightning head coach Chris Daleo. The Rockford Lightning enjoy a few days off before playing at Great Lakes on February 7 and Michigan on February 8.

The Lightning then return to the MetroCentre on Thursday, February 10, as they host the Dakota Wizards at 7:05 p.m. Rockford has already swept two road victories over the Western Conference leading Dakota Wizards on January 28 and 29. This starts a streak of five straight home games as the Lightning push for the CBA playoffs. All kids 12 and under with a paying adult will be half price; to order your tickets call the MetroCentre box office at 815-968-5222.
