Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

Michael Bolaski continued his hot hitting, going 4-for-4 with two runs and four RBIs, as Orem ended a four-game losing streak with an 8-4 win over Grand Junction.

The Owlz needed a win in the biggest way and they got it thanks to some solid pitching and clutch hitting.

Garrett Baker and Aaron Newcomb combined for six scoreless innings to keep the Rockies bats quiet after they scored three runs against Mark Sappington in the first three innings.

Sappington went two-plus innings, giving up three runs on two hits and one walk. Baker picked up for him and allowed one hit in three innings, while Newcomb fired three perfect innings. Austin Adams struck out the side in the 9th, allowing one run.

Orem fell behind 2-0 in the 1st when David Dahl hit a 2-run home run. The Owlz answered back with one in the first on a RBI single by Wade Hinkle; however, Michael Snyder grounded into a triple play to end the threat.

Bolaski belted a 2-run home run of his own in the bottom of the 2nd to put Orem ahead. The Rockies scored one in the top of the 3rd to tie it, but Jonathan Walsh and Bolaski hit back-to-back RBI singles in the bottom of the inning to put Orem ahead for good.

The Owlz got some insurance runs in the 7th after four straight singles from Michael Snyder, Walsh, Bolaski and Chevy Clarke.

Orem is now tied with Grand Junction and sits two games back of Ogden with six games to play. Orem will take on Ogden for two games at Lindquist Field starting on Saturday night, and then the two teams will return to Orem for a two game series that starts on Monday.
