BOISE, ID - The Hawks celebrate two decades of baseball and family fun with a promotional schedule that includes an amazing nine fireworks shows in 2006! The first post-game fireworks take place opening night, June 19th and will follow after every Friday night game throughout the season. And, of course, Memorial Stadium is the only place to see fireworks in the Treasure Valley on the 4th of July. As an added bonus, we'll be lighting up the sky on July 3rd as well!
Some other highlights of the '06 schedule include: Christmas in July, Reverse the Curse II, Hawks History Night featuring Tom Kotchman, and Strikeout Breast Cancer Day just to name a few.
"We're excited that Memorial Stadium will be the place to bring the family once again this summer," said Hawks President/General Manager Todd Rahr. "In addition to the baseball and fun, we're partnering with a number of local charities to enrich our community as well."
Christmas in July takes place July 7th. During the day, the Hawks players will feed families from the Boise Rescue Mission at the Texas Roadhouse followed by a night of Christmas celebrations at the park. The first 1,250 fans will receive a 20th Season Ornament compliments of the Idaho Beef Council.
On July 14th, the Hawks will attempt to reverse the Curse of the Billy Goat...again! Red Sox in 2004, White Sox in 2005, two "curses" down, one to go! The curse of the billy goat will end in 2006 if the Hawks' mojo has anything to do with it. The first 1,250 fans will receive the 2nd edition Billy Goat Bobblehead.
We'll celebrate 20 years of Hawks' baseball with Hawks History Night on July 22nd. The icon of the Hawks Nation, former Manager Tom Kotchman, will have his #11 retired in a long-awaited ceremony before the game. The first 1,250 fans will receive a Tom Kotchman Bobblehead as they come through the gates.
On July 29th, the Hawks are helping Strikeout Breast Cancer with an entire day of activities including a 5K Run/Walk at 9:30am, a Baseball 101 Clinic at 11:30am and the game that night. The Hawks will wear special pink jerseys that will be auctioned off to the highest bidders with the funds going to fight breast cancer.
The Hawks are preparing for their 20th Anniversary Season of Northwest League play. The club has won 6 NWL Championships, the most recent banner coming in 2004.
