Bismarck Bobcats News Release

Tender-

The Bismarck Bobcats have tendered a 5'11" 180 lb. defenseman, John Avino. You may remember him in a 'Cats uniform, as he had a short stint in the Den over Christmas. He also has experience from playing with the 2006-2007 Dubuque Thunderbirds of the CSHL, where he netted 2 goals and tallied 6 helpers for a total of 8 points. He hails from Mount Prospect, IL and was born in 1989.

"John is a steady defenseman who takes care of his own end first," stated Bobcats head coach Byron Pool. "He competes about as hard as any player I have seen this year and comes from a strong program in Dubuque in which he was a big part of. I expect John to be able to step in and play a similar role with our program next year."

Alumni-

Thirteen (13) former North American Hockey League players skated at last weekend's NCAA Division I Frozen Four at the Pepsi Center in Denver. Two of the thirteen were former Bismarck Bobcats. Defenseman Robbie Bina and goaltender Aaron Walski suited up for the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux. Unfortunately the Fighting Sioux lost 6-1 to the Boston College Eagles, who are now National Champions.

Walski (Fargo, ND) played goal for the Bobcats during the 2004-2005 season where he turned in a 2.87 goals against average and a 92% save percentage. Bina (Grand Forks, ND) was a key defenseman that helped Bismarck win the Borne Cup Championship in 2002-2003
