Bismarck Bobcats News Release
MINOT, ND - A run of three straight goals allowed undid the Bismarck Bobcats as a third period rally came up short in a 3-1 loss Tuesday to the Minot Minotauros at Maysa Arena.
With the game deadlocked in a scoreless tie deep into the second period, the Minotauros grabbed a 1-0 lead with 5:32 to go in the middle frame on the power play when newcomer Andriy Denyskin roofed a 15-foot snap shot over the blocker of Bobcat goalie Nick Althaus and in.
Minot extended the score to 2-0 with 15:18 left in regulation on the forecheck when defenseman Colby Enns' point shot ricocheted into the net through traffic.
Forward Spencer Zweiner added a major bit of insurance at the 6:44 mark, ripping home a low snap shot off a Bobcat turnover to make it 3-0 in favor of the Minotauros.
Just 30 seconds later, the Bobcat offense found life when Tristan Ashbook tapped in a Luke Millen rebound dragged the visitors within striking distance at 3-1.
The Cats' offense had its chances to even the score, but two missed nets on close-range chances in the final three minutes wound up proving to be the difference in the 3-1 final count.
Wednesday will feature a rematch of North Dakota's two NAHL entries with the scene shifting to the Cats' home ice at the VFW Sports Center at 7:15pm. Tickets are available for purchase online at BismarckBobcats.com or by calling 222-3300.
