Bobcats and Blizzard Split Weekend

After a huge 5-2 win Friday evening the Bismarck Bobcats found themseleves on the playoff map breathing for air. Saturday evening some of that playoff hope was taking from the 'Cats after a 6-5 shoot-out loss. Bismarck started the contest off with an Eric Lund goal 1:05 in. The next goal of the game would be scored 1:39 into the second. A Joel Whited power-play goal put the 'Cats up 2-0. Alexandria's Jerry Freismuth would pull the game to 2-1. Then Eric Lund would score his second of the game to re-coushion the two goal lead. Jerry Freismuth would then net another to put the game to 3-2. Two powerplay goals would follow to end the second. The first from 'Cats Captain Kyle Maggard, the second from Alexandria's Jon Swavely. A dog fight was set up for the third. Toby Falk would score at the 12:04 mark to move the Bobcats lead to 5-3, but the Blizzard then proved their playoff push had more strength. Two unanswered goals in the final eight minutes from Hartman and Vichorek sent the game into a 4 on 4 sudden death overtime. Five extra minutes wasn't enough and a shoout-out would take place. A goaltenders battle would be on display for a packed house, but Alexandria's Noah Nemgar and Brandon Bahnemann would seal the deal for the Blizzard. Bismarck falls to the record 17-27-5 while Alexandria hops into fourth with a 19-21-3 record.
