Bobcats Acquire Treml In Trade

January 4, 2009 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Bismarck Bobcats News Release

The Bismarck Bobcats have traded defenceman Josh Nelson to the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in exchange for defenceman Brad Treml. The Green Bay, Wisconsin native, Treml has played in 12 games this season with Fairbanks and has a plus-3 rating. Last season with the Dubuque Thunderbirds (Central States Hockey League), the 6 foot 2 inch 220 pound defenceman had 23 points (3 goals, 20 assists).

"Treml is big solid defenseman who I've heard a lot of good things about," said Bobcats Head Coach Byron Pool. "He skates well for his size and has a lot of potential to develop into a great defenceman for us. I believe he will fit in with our "defense first" concept."

As for the outgoing Nelson, Pool said that he will be missed. "Josh was a great person and we all enjoyed having him on this team. But, he has an opportunity to play with a highly-skilled team in Fairbanks and could utilize his offensive side a bit more."

Bismarck came off this week with a two-game split against the Owatonna Express winning New Year's Eve 3-2 and losing Friday night 4-2 in Owatonna. The Bobcats will get a full week of practice and prepare for the division leading North Iowa Outlaws coming to Bismarck this Friday night at the V.F.W. Sports Center.

Listen to the "Jiffy Lube - Bobcats Coach's Show" on Wednesday, January 7th for information about your Bobcats and a chance to win tickets to the games against the Outlaws. The show will air at 6:30pm on Super Talk 1270 AM live from Kirkwood Mall. Send all questions to Bobcats Head Coach Byron Pool at bobcats1270@gmail.com to be answered during the show.
