Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors look to continue their fight for the playoffs with games on Wednesday and Friday night on the Mercy & Memorial Hospitals Home Ice at Rabobank Arena against the Utah Grizzlies. Doors open at 6 p.m., puck drops at 7 p.m. both nights. They will also travel to Stockton for a pivotal matchup against the Thunder on Saturday night.
Wednesday vs. Utah - High School / College ID Night: On Wednesday, high school and college students can purchase lower level seats for only $1 by presenting their student ID at the Rabobank Arena Box Office, courtesy of My 45 and 106.1 KRAB Radio. Also that night, it's the My First Library Book Drive, donate a new or gently used children's book and receive $1 admission to the game. The books will be donated to children who otherwise would not have any books of their own.
Friday vs. Utah - Bobblehead Giveaway Night: On Friday, the first 2,000 fans, 12-and-under, will receive a Matt Caruana Bobblehead Doll, thanks to ABC23 and U.S. Army. Matt Caruana, an Anaheim Ducks prospect, was the Condors leading goal scorer until recalled by Iowa to the American Hockey League.
The Condors are currently 13-4-1 in their last 18 games and hold down the final spot in the National Conference playoff picture, with a .018 win percentage cushion over the Phoenix RoadRunners. Bakersfield trails the Stockton Thunder for third place in the Pacific Division, just .023 in win percentage behind, with one head-to-head meeting left in the regular season, this Saturday at Stockton Arena.
Intermission Fun: During the first intermission of Wednesday's game, one lucky fan will get to compete on the ice in the California Pizza Kitchen Pizza Punchout, by taking five shots to knock down pizza boxes and win CPK gift cards. Afterwards, back by popular demand, Colonel Claw'd and Baby Cal will be hurled down the ice toward oversized bowling pins by a 40 foot slingshot
During the second intermission Wednesday night, one good toss can win you $450 in Chuck-a-Puck! After that, one lucky fan will have the chance to shoot to win a jersey by scoring a goal from center ice.
On Friday night during the first intermission, one fan will have the chance to win a pair of pearl earrings from Rogers Jewelers for his significant other by answering sports trivia questions.
During the second intermission on Friday, one lucky fan will be able to Shoot the Puck, Win the Truck, for the Condors one-of-a-kind 2008 Chevy Silverado, complete with Condors customizations, courtesy of 3-Way Chevrolet. If that contestant doesn't win, then one fan will be drawn at random to win the truck if a Condors player nets a hat trick (3 goals) all in the third period. Four times during the win the truck contest a Condors player has scored two goals in the third period, including Andrew Ianiero's two third period goals last weekend, coming very close to sending a fan home in a new ride!
