Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson coming to Lawrence-Dumont Stadium
July 9, 2004 - Texas League (TL1)
Wichita Wranglers News Release
The Bob Dylan Show is traveling throughout the Midwest and eastern United States this summer with a tour of minor league baseball parks in what promises to be the most innovative musical event of the season. Several dates have recently gone on sale and tickets have sold well beyond expectations. Sharing the bill with Bob Dylan will be legendary country music icon Willie Nelson. While Bob and Willie have performed at shows together over the years, "The Bob Dylan Show" marks the first time the two hugely popular and acclaimed artists, songwriters and performers will be touring together. The Hot Club Of Cowtown hails from Austin, TX and performs its unique brand of Western-Swing influenced music throughout the country and many parts of the world. All three bands will be performing separate sets.
Performing on this tour with his band, Bob Dylan has experienced one of his most creative and prolific periods over the past half-dozen years. Multiple Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, and over 500 concert performances have all found Bob Dylan to be in prime form. "What we aim to do with this tour," says Bob Dylan, "is hit the ball out of the park, touch all the bases and get home safely."
Like Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson's career has spanned 5 decades, and in that time he's become one of the most prolific recording and touring artists in any genre of music. His popularity, as both a commercial success and a critic's favorite, has garnered him shelves of awards, including recognition by the Country Music Association, the American Music Awards, numerous Grammy Awards, and many more.
All tickets general admission ($46.00) and seating is available on the field or in the stands. Tickets go on sale Friday, July 16 at 10:00 am and will be available at the Lawrence-Dumont Stadium ticket office. To charge-by-phone call 316-267-3372.
