Round Rock Express News Release
ROUND ROCK, Texas â A night after the Round Rock Express bats had their best game of the second half, Tim McClaskey and the Round Rock bullpen had theirs.
McClaskey and relievers Mike Burns and Santiago Ramirez combined to limit the Midland RockHounds to only four hits in a 4-2 win in front of 11,086 at The Dell Diamond.
"We pitched well tonight," manager Jackie Moore said. "This was a big win for us getting ready to go on the road."
McClaskey (4-3) threw a dominant six innings, keeping Midland (41-45, 6-10 in the second half) off balance for the bulk of the game. He allowed only one run â a John Baker RBI single in the sixth â on three hits.
Mike Burns was perfect in the seventh and eighth innings and Santiago Ramirez closed the RockHounds out in the ninth for his 24th save.
At the plate, Round Rock (52-34, 7-9) became the first team to scratch Shane Bazzell. Back-to-back doubles by Brooks Conrad and Todd Self staked the Express to a 2-0 lead in the third.
Luke Scott homered to lead of the fourth and singled home the Express' final run of the night in the fourth to hand Bazzell (7-1) his first loss.
After splitting a brief four-game homestand, the Express will start an eight-game road trip to El Paso and San Antonio tomorrow against the Diablos.
Round Rock will return home July 18 for a 12-game homestand against Arkansas, Frisco and San Antonio.
