Blunden Lifts Canada to Win

Mike Blunden of the Erie Otters scored the game winning goal with 50 seconds remaining in regulation time to help Team Canada to a 2-1 win over the Czech Republic in 2006 World Junior Championship exhibition play Tuesday night in Kelowna, British Columbia. Otters forward Ryan O'Marra did not factor in on the scoring. The game was Canada's first against international competition in preparation for the 2006 World Junior Hockey Championships, which begin December 26th. Team Canada opens defense of their title December 26th against Finland. Team USA opens December 26th against Norway.

The Otters return to action with the first game in a six-game road trip Wednesday, December 28th in Saginaw against the Spirit. December 29th the Otters are in Windsor and December 30th the Otters travel to Plymouth. All three games can be heard live on SportsRadio 1330 The FAN and on line at www.ottershockey.com (presented by the James H. Cross Company). The next Otters home game takes place Wednesday, January 11th when the Mississauga IceDogs visit the Tullio Arena for a 7:30 p.m. start. Tickets the game are available at all Erie-area TicketMaster locations as well as the Civic Center Box Office.
