
Blues walk off with win over Worcester

BRISTOL, CONN. - A day after capturing a one-run win over the Bristol Blues, the Worcester Bravehearts lost the second half of a home-and-home to the Blues 2-1 on Saturday night, July 18 on Fuzzy Field in Bristol, Connecticut.
With the game tied 1-1 in the 10th inning, the Blues loaded the bases with one out in the inning. Bravehearts reliever Nick Freijomil (LIU Brooklyn / Franklinville, New Jersey) then threw a wild pitch to plate left fielder Griffin Garabedian (UConn / Hamden, Connecticut) and win the game.
Despite not getting a decision, Worcester starter Mike Bruemmel (Wheaton / Bridgewater) was outstanding on the mound. Bristol scored only one run off the lefty who struck out six and allowed four hits in seven innings of work.
Bristol starter Ryan Lauria (Virginia Tech / Roanoke, Virginia) was equally effective, as he gave up one run on three hits in five innings pitched. Blues reliever Robert Paccione (LIU Post / Commack, New York) put runners on the corners in the 10th inning but retired the side and got the win.
Worcester right fielder Willie Allen (Lewis & Clark State / Boston) scored his team's only run when third baseman Mike Coggeshall (Assumption / Shrewsbury) hit a sacrifice fly in the third inning. Allen led Worcester's offense going 2-5 at the plate.
The Bravehearts committed three errors in the loss.
