Blues Sign Kyle Hagel to Two-Way Contract

St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has signed forward Kyle Hagel to a two-way contract.

Hagel, 26, has spent parts of the last two seasons with the American Hockey League's (AHL) Rockford IceHogs including 2010-11 where he appeared in 77 games and posted 13 points (five goals, eight assists) and 245 penalty minutes. During the 2010-11 season, Hagel racked up 31 fighting major - tied for the most in the American Hockey League - and finished with 245 penalty minutes - an IceHogs single season record.

Following the season, he was named the Rockford IceHogs' Man of the Year for his outstanding contributions to the Rockford community. Hagel has also appeared in 80 career games in the ECHL with Fresno, Reading and Las Vegas and accumulated 14 goals, 14 assists and 220 penalty minutes.

The 6'0, 205-pound forward is a native of Hamilton, Ontario and played his collegiate hockey at Princeton University. He was named to the ECAC All-Academic Team in each of his final three years at Princeton and as a senior was an All-Ivy selection.
