Peoria Rivermen News Release
The St. Louis Blues shuffled its goaltending cards today, leaving the Peoria Rivermen with two different netminders on the roster from Sunday to Monday.
Blues President John Davidson announced that the club has recalled netminder Hannu Toivonen from the Rivermen and assigned goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu to the team. The Blues also reassigned goaltender Marek Schwarz from the Alaska Aces (ECHL) to the Rivermen while Peoria released backstop Derek Gustafson from his PTO with the club.
The moves leave Peoria with the tandem of Beckford-Tseu and Schwarz on the eve of the NHL's trade deadline, scheduled for 3 pm EST Tuesday afternoon.
Beckford-Tseu returns to Peoria after making his NHL debut back on February 21 in Los Angeles against the Kings during a 5-1 Blues loss. He was inserted into the game after Manny Legace gave up four second period goals and stopped 8-of-9 shots against in the game. This year with the Rivermen he has compiled a 15-9-2 record, 2.61 GAA and .900 save percentage.
On the other end of the spectrum, Schwarz returns after putting up solid numbers in Alaska with the Aces. There, he posted a 6-0-0 mark, 2.08 GAA and .924 save percentage. With Peoria Schwarz has notched a 9-10-2 record, 2.57 GAA and .891 save percentage.
The 23-year-old Toivonen returns to the Blues after going 4-3-0 with Peoria, winning two shootouts for the Rivermen this year and recording a 3.49 GAA and .864 save percentage.
Peoria will return to action on Friday night against the Grand Rapids Griffins at 7 pm, with Hannah Montana's Emily Osment (Lilly) appearing from 6-8:30 pm to sign autographs and pose for pictures with fans! It's also Advance Auto Parts Hat Night.
