Blues Send Nikita Nikitin to Peoria

St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club assigned defenseman Nikita Nikitin (NICK-it-in) to the Blues' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.

Nikitin, 24, made his NHL debut in the Blues' 2-1 shootout victory on November 6 at Boston. The 6'3, 217-pound defenseman made 12 appearances for the Blues serving two penalty minutes. The Omsk, Russia native was originally drafted by St. Louis in the fifth round, 136th overall, of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

He has spent the past seven seasons with Omsk Avangard in Russia. In his seven-year career, the 6'3", 215-pound defenseman has played in 265 games for Omsk totaling 61 points on 13 goals and 48 assists including 219 penalty minutes.

Peoria will be on the road to face the Hamilton Bulldogs on Friday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. and the Lake Erie Monsters on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m. They return home on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. to face the Milwaukee Admirals at Carver Arena.
