Bluefish Sweep Double Header

Bridgewater, NJ- The Bridgeport Bluefish swept a double-header against the Somerset Patriots at TD Bank Ballpark on Sunday night.

Game 1:

After a two hour and 45 minute rain delay, the Bluefish defeated the Patriots 3-2 in the first game.

The Bluefish rallied to score two runs in the top of the seventh on RBI base hits by Luis Rodriguez and Colin Roberson for the win.

Bridgeport jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a solo homerun by Luis Lopez (8).

The Patriots scored to tie the game at one in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI single by Justin Huber.

An RBI single by Jeff Nettles in the bottom of the fifth scored Joe Burke and gave Somerset a 2-1 advantage.

Bridgeport reliever Chris Rivera (4-0) got the win after tossing a scoreless inning. Ryan Houston (0-2) suffered the loss for the Patriots, surrendering two runs in the seventh inning. Juan Rincon picked up his 19th save of the season for the Bluefish.

Game 2:

The Patriots struck first in the bottom half of the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Jeff Nettles that plated Elliott Ayala for a 1-0 lead.

Bridgeport rallied to score five runs in the sixth highlighted by Steve Moss (11) and Danny Putnam (10) homeruns to make the score 5-1.

A sacrifice fly to center by Brandon Chaves in the sixth cut the Bridgeport lead to 5-2.

The Patriots came up just short in the bottom of the seventh after Joe Burke (2) drove a two run homerun over the right field wall to get Somerset within a run for the 5-4 final.

Bluefish starter Pat Ryan got the win after allowing two runs in five innings. Patriots reliever Ron Villone (0-3) suffered the loss, allowing all five runs and retiring two batters. Rincon picked up his 20th save and second of the evening.
