Camden Riversharks News Release
CAMDEN, NJ - The Camden Riversharks lost their third game in four days Thursday night to the Bridgeport Bluefish. The Riversharks struggled to piece together a rally strong enough to overcome a seventh inning grand slam by Bridgeport first baseman Jesse Hoorelbeke.
Camden took the lead in the first on an RBI single by outfielder LJ Biernbaum. They added another in the third to match a two-run Bridgeport inning on a single to left by designated hitter Josh Rabe.
Bridgeport broke the game open with Hoorelbeke's grand slam off reliever Julio Guerrero. Guerrero entered in relief of starter Darren Sack, who pitched six innings and faced three batters in the seventh-loading the bases.
Guerrero's first pitch was punched out of the stadium, and the Riversharks staggered for the rest of the game. The Bluefish led 6-3.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Riversharks swung back and fell short. They scored just one run on another RBI single-this one from first baseman Brett Bonvechio.
Camden left 10 runners on base.
The series continues tomorrow with a doubleheader. The first game starts at 11:05 a.m.; the second starts at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available online at www.riversharks.com or by calling 1-866-SHARKS-9.
