EVANSVILLE, IN: The Evansville BlueCats (4-7) will take on the Peoria Rough Riders (0-11) this Saturday night at Roberts Stadium as your BlueCats look to build on last weeks win over the Fort Wayne Freedom and continue their run to the 2006 UIF Playoffs. Last week the Evansville defeated Fort Wayne at home 43-37. Peoria lost on the road to the Sioux Falls Storm by the score of 71-0. Earlier this season, Evansville came away with a 37-13 victory at Peoria'a Carver Arena.
This Saturday's against the Peoria Rough Riders is sponsored by Gus Doerner Sports and will feature an Evansville BlueCats team and UIF league record of 1,000 t-shirts given away during the game. Shirts will be tossed, thrown, and launched into the crowd by the Evansville BlueCats cheerleaders and game day staff, as well as TD Fiddler and other area mascots who will stick around to participate in a special halftime mascot athletic challenge.
This Saturday's game will also feature ticket and merchandise specials in honor of Father's Day. Anyone who purchases a ticket to Saturday's game may receive an additional ticket for his or her father in honor of Father's Day. To claim your free ticket, all interested parties should bring their father to the Ticketmaster box office at Roberts Stadium on the day of the game to pick up a complimentary ticket. At the BlueCats merchandise booths, fans will receive a free bobble head doll with any purchase of $40 or more.
The Harley Davidson motorcycles from ABATE of Indiana - Region 8 will return to Roberts Stadium once again for this weekend's game. They will be on hand and participate in the BlueCats pre-game ceremonies.
The Gus Doerner Charity football toss will be taking place at halftime. Before the game and during the first half of all 2006 home games, fans can purchase footballs to be "tossed" at targets on the field during halftime for a chance to win prizes from Gus Doerner sports. At last week's game against Fort Wayne, one lucky fan won the grand prize $500 gift certificate to Gus Doerner Sports. Prizes are awarded every week for the football closest to the targets on the field. All proceeds from the football toss are donated to the weekly charity. This Saturday's charity is the Vanderburgh Humane Society.
Kickoff on Saturday will be at 7:05pm. Escape from the humid Evansville summer evenings and enjoy an indoor football game in the air conditioned, insect free comfort of Roberts Stadium! The gates at Roberts Stadium will open at 6pm. The BlueCats invite fans to show up early and tailgate with your fellow fans. The first 1,000 fans that enter the gates will receive free BlueCats game programs and Evansville BlueCats Spirit Signs.
