Blue Sox Walk off against Mountaineers in the 10th, 1-0

Holyoke, MA - It took 10 innings before either team would crack the score column Wednesday night in Holyoke, as the Blue Sox would walk off against the Mountaineers 1-0.

It was a pitcher's duel between Andrew Kneussle (Plattsburgh, NY/ Canisius) and Endy Morales (Holyoke, MA/ Southern New Hampshire). Kneussle would throw eight shutout innings, giving up six hits and one walk while striking out nine. Morales would match that for six innings, also giving up no runs on six hits while striking out six.

Vermont had plenty of opportunities, as they would leave 15 runners on base. Valley would have their chance in the bottom of the 10th. Following two singles and a walk, Valley would have the bases loaded and one out for their cleanup hitter Tyler Kapuscinski (Marlboro, NJ/ Marist) would pick on the first pitch from Ryan Leckich (Port Neches, TX/ Baylor), sending a single to left center, winning the game for Valley.

The loss for Vermont went to Leckich, who threw an inning and a third out of the pen, giving up one run on three hits. The win for Valley went to Ricky Reynoso (San Diego, CA/ Pacific), who tip toed out of danger during two innings of work, striking out two.

Vermont (14-20) now drops to five and half games back of third place Sanford (18-13), who hold the last spot in the playoff standings. Vermont has a day off Thursday, and then travels to Winnipesaukee (9-24) Friday in a big matchup vs. the Muskrats.
