Wilmington, DE --- Zach Borowiak's two-out, two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning provided the only scoring of the game as the Wilmington Blue Rocks defeated the Frederick Keys, 2-0, in Wednesday's School Kids' Special at Frawley Stadium. The game was halted in the middle of the eighth inning due to inclement weather and poor field conditions.

Borowiak's third home run of the season came on a 3-2 pitch from Frederick starter Adam Loewen (0-2), landing in the Keys' bullpen. The line drive to left field drove in Bryan Goelz to break the scoreless tie.

Wilmington starter Jarrett Gardner went five innings in his first start since May 5. He did not allow a run, yielding just two hits and striking out three, but did not factor in the decision. Kyle Bono (1-1) earned the with with three near-perfect innings of relief. The Orlando, FL, native retired nine of the ten batters he faced and kept the Keys off the board.

Loewen had been nearly flawless before giving up the homer to Borowiak. The lefthander had allowed just two hits before Borowiak's roundtripper and finished the game with eight strikeouts.

With the win, Wilmington avoided being swept in a three-game series for the first time in 2005.

The Blue Rocks have a scheduled off-day tomorrow before beginning a seven-game road trip through Myrtle Beach and Kinston.
