Blue Jays' 2016 2nd, 4th and 5th-Round Draftees Join Lugnuts

LANSING, Mich. - In conjunction with the Toronto Blue Jays, the Lansing Lugnuts announce th at 2016 second-round pick J.B. Woodman, fourth-round pick Joshua Palacios and fifth-round pick Cavan Biggio have been transferred to Lansing from Short-Season A Vancouver. In addition, pitcher Starlyn Suriel w as reinstated from the 7-day Disabled List, pitcher Griffin Glaude was transferred to Vancouver, outfielder Austin Davis was placed on the 7-day DL retroactive to August 25th and outfielder Jake Thomas was placed on the 7-day Disabled List retroactive to August 26th .
Woodman, 21, was drafted 57th overall out of the University of Mississippi, where he blasted an SEC-leading 14 home runs this past season and was named First Team All-SEC and SEC All-Defense . In 54 games with Vancouver, he batted .282 with three home runs, 24 RBIs and ten stolen bases.
Palacios, 21, was the 117th overall selection from Auburn University, batting .385 with 12 stolen bases in 34 games. The Brooklyn native, whose uncle Rey played for the Kansas City Royals from 1988-1990, batted .355 in 28 games with Vancouver. He departed the Northwest League riding a 14-game hitting streak and a league-best 27-game on-base streak.
Biggio, 21, is the son of National Baseball Hall of Famer Craig Biggio, who accumulated 3,060 hits during a 20-year career with the Houston Astros and coached Cavan at St. Thomas High School in Texas. A product of the University of Notre Dame, Biggio batted .282 with a .382 on-base percentage in 53 games with Vancouver.
Lansing (2 9 - 32 in the second half, 6 5 -6 6 overall) plays the second game of a four -game series at Lake County tonight at 7:00 p.m.
The Lugnuts' roster is attached, consisting of 25 active players with f our players on the Disabled List and one player on the Temporarily Inactive List.
