
Blue Jackets Recall Alexander Wennberg, Falcons Reassign Scott Munroe

Springfield, Mass. - The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed left wing Matt Calvert on Injured Reserve retroactive to October 24 and recalled center Alexander Wennberg, Blue Jackets General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. Additionally, the Springfield Falcons have reassigned goaltender Scott Munroe to the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL, Director of Hockey Operations Bruce Landon announced.
Calvert, 24, is expected to miss one week due to an upper body injury. He has recorded a goal and an assist with six penalty minutes in seven games this season. He posted career highs in assists (15), points (24), penalty minutes (53) and games played (56) in 2013-14 and has recorded 30-35-65 with 119 penalty minutes in 160 career games with the Blue Jackets. The Brandon, Manitoba native was the club's fifth pick, 127th overall, in the 2008 NHL Draft.
Wennberg, 20, has appeared in seven games with the Blue Jackets this season, registering his first NHL point (assist) in his NHL debut on October 9 at Buffalo. He recorded 16 goals and five assists for 21 points with eight penalty minutes in 50 games with Frolunda of the Swedish Hockey League in 2013-14. The Stockholm, Sweden native was the club's first pick, 14th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft.
Munroe, 32, appeared in one game with the Falcons since being recalled on Oct. 20. He posted a 3.00 goals-against average and a .857 save percentage, stopping 18 of 21 shots in his first Falcons win against the Norfolk Admirals. Munroe has also appeared in one game with the Wings this season, recording a 2.00 goals-against average and .882 save percentage, turning away 15 of 17 shots in an Oct. 18 victory against the Elmira Jackals.
The 5-foot-10, 176-pound goaltender spent the 2013-14 season with the Vaxjo Lakers of the Swedish Hockey League. In 36 regular season games, Munroe accumulated a 19-16-0 record and posted three shutouts to go along with a 2.06 goals-against average and .912 save percentage. The Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan native has appeared in a career total of 243 American Hockey League regular season contests, amassing a 114-90-14 record with 19 shutouts.
