Pirates Assign Southorn to Gwinnett

Saco, ME - The Portland Pirates today announced the reassignment of defenseman Jordon Southorn to their ECHL affiliate, the Gwinnett Gladiators.

Southorn, a 6-foot-3, 200 pound defenseman from Montreal, Quebec, played in two games for the Pirates so far this season, collecting two penalty minutes. The 24 year-old played in one game with the Pirates last season, registering two assists.

Southorn was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the Fourth Round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He will join Gwinnett in time for their Wednesday night home game against the Orlando Solar Bears.

The Pirates are next in action this Wednesday night at the DCU Center as they will rematch with the Worcester Sharks. You can hear the game on the WPEI Portland Pirates Radio Network with Jeff Mannix, starting with the Pirates Pregame Show at 6:40.

The Pirates next home game is Halloween Night, this Friday, October 31 at the Cross Insurance Arena against the St. John's IceCaps. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 p.m. Kids attending the game in costume can participate in our Kids' Costume Parade between periods.
