Amerks Recall Matt Mackenzie from Elimira

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has recalled defenseman Matt MacKenzie from the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL.

MacKenzie, 23, has appeared in three games with Elmira this season and two AHL games with the Amerks, where he has recorded one assist. Last year, he appeared in 64 games with the Amerks, recording 10 points (2+8) and 84 penalty minutes to set career-highs in all categories. In 116 career AHL games with the Amerks, the 6-foot-1, 188-pound native of New Westminster, British Columbia, has registered 19 points (2+17) and 168 penalty minutes. He has also appeared in 10 career ECHL contests with Gwinnett, Greenville and Elmira. MacKenzie was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the third round (83rd overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
