Blue Falls to Red Claws on Opening Night

OKLAHOMA CITY, Nov. 14, 2014 - The Oklahoma City Blue fell to the Maine Red Claws, 111-105, on Friday in its season opener at the Cox Convention Center.

Semaj Christon led the game in scoring with 32 points to go with two rebounds and two assists while Talib Zanna tallied 17 points and 15 rebounds. Mario Little scored 11 points with three assists and two boards and Josh Huestis posted 10 points and nine rebounds.

Michael Jenkins led the Blue bench with 16 points and five assists.

The Blue began the game strong, leading by 11 after the opening quarter and taking a 56-41 lead into halftime. Christon scored 20 first-half points on 7-of-9 shooting while the Blue defense held Maine to 31.0 percent shooting from the field.

"I thought we played a pretty complete 24 minutes in the first half," said Blue Head Coach Mark Daigneault. "I was pleased with how we played in the first half, specifically defensively. In the second half we had a hard time sustaining that."

Maine worked its way back in the second half, outscoring Oklahoma City by nine in the third quarter and eventually tying the game at 84 with 7:26 left in the fourth. The Blue and Red Claws exchanged leads seven times before Maine extended its advantage to six on a pair of free throws with 21 seconds to go.

The Red Claws were led by Chris Baab with 22 points and seven rebounds along with Tim Frazier's 18 points and nine assists.
